Fixed Wire Testing

Fixed Wire Testing

If you own or rent an industrial or commercial property then you are responsible for the electrical safety of that unit. Regular Fixed Wire Testing is a mandatory requirement for premises of this nature as it is common for electrical installations to suffer degradation over time. It is therefore vitally important that these fixed wire tests are carried out on a regular basis.

Fixed wire testing is often misunderstood by business owners and some even think there is a hidden agenda by electrical companies – this is why DJP works to make this type of electrical testing as straightforward and transparent for its clients as possible.

We have a structured and unique approach to managing Fixed Wire Testing. We aim to be 100% transparent throughout the process – and that starts from the first phone call or meeting – so you understand what is being tested, what the results mean and if any repair is required it is fully explained with costings broken down completely. You will never find DJP undertaking remedial work without your consent and costs will be discussed prior to any repair work – this means that you are in control at all times.

PAT Testing

PAT Testing

PAT Testing (portable appliance testing) is a UK based policy that requires routine safety checks to be completed in the workplace. The purpose of PAT Testing policy is to ensure that any people, customers, employees, tenants or anyone who might come into contact with portable electrical appliances are not going to be at risk of injury from them.

PAT Testing regulations are very clear-cut. The 1989 Electricity at Work Regulations perhaps gives the clearest explanation in saying that: “All systems shall at all times be of such construction as to prevent, so far as reasonably practical, such danger.” This means that most companies observe regular testing protocols on given timescales – usually once per year as a minimum. Although there is no requirement by law to conduct an annual test, this is generally considered best practice.

Whether you are a small one person company or a large global corporation, the best course of action for companies is to employ an external service provider to check all appliances.
